What are enzymes and are they important?

A baby is born with an overload of enzymes. As you turn 20 you start lacking of enzymes and as you age you really need to take supplements in order to keep your body healthy.

Enzymes are proteins that allow certain chemical reactions to take place much quicker than the reactions would occur on their own. Enzymes function as catalysts, which means that they speed up the rate at which metabolic processes and reactions occur in living organisms. You lose this ability as you age and this causes premature aging. Enzymes certainly lead to longevity.

Enzymes are needed to help control all mental and physical functions. Enzymes work with other substances and help the extraction of minerals, vitamins and proteins.  Enzymes work with vitamins in every chemical reaction inside and outside your cells.  Enzymes aid in transforming proteins into amino acids. Enzymes are responsible for nearly all your body's health and far outweigh the importance of every other nutrient.

Enzyme deficiency is a forerunner to disease and nearly all people, because of improper diet over the years, need to replenish their enzyme supply.  Enzymes are, therefore, justified as a supplemental dietary substance just as you add vitamins and minerals to your diet.

Enzymes lower inflammation, maximizes immune system, aid in reversing autoimmune diseases and much much more. Any word ending with ase (singular) or ases (plural) are enzymes. And there are thousands of them.

You'll find enzymes in raw foods or foods that haven't been heated above 45C. The ability for the enzyme "to do its job" reduces dramatically in temperatures above that. So eat your greens as raw as you can.
